Assistive Tech

The article under review is titled Enabling an Accessible Web 2.0. This article was written by Becky Gibson with IBM Emerging Technologies. The reason for the piece is to enlighten readers on how the web has expanded beyond having a simple data storage function. Gibson details the new web’s dynamic features that allow the millions of world wide users to network with friends, relatives as well as corporations. Thoughts and ideas can quickly be assimilated throughout the web with these new technologies.
JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets have become not a luxury but a necessity for website developers. This combined with the ever expanding availability of high speed internet and with it the use of embedded video the web is quickly becoming a very dynamic place that can bombard the user with everything from breaking news to advertisement. What is really intriguing is the way in which software developers and inventors are creating ways for the web to remain accessible for handicapped users. The internet has become a place where user interface is of the utmost importance.
